I think of a new year as a time of renewal and new beginnings, full of possibilities and promise. At Two for Joy Jewelry it will be no different. We will have new designs in keeping with our aesthetic of representing all that is Natural and Good in the world around us. You will see more designs with coastal elements and impressions of nature that I have discovered as I walk through the moors and on the beaches of Nantucket island.
I will be introducing a technique that is new to me called Tear-away. I learned this technique last September from an amazing and renowned teacher, Celie Fago. The technique involves heat, photocopied designs and polymer clay to make low relief textures. Used in metal clay, the impressions are reminiscent of jewelry that heralds from ancient times, such as my Ancestor’s necklace and earrings. You will also see more 24 kt Gold accents which will create additional interest and dimension in the jewelry.
We are looking forward to our first gallery showing, “Decadent Dreams”! Two for Joy Jewelry, along with the work of other metal clay artists, will be represented at Loading Dock Gallery in Lowell, Massachusetts from 2/1/2017 to 2/26/2017. More updates to follow in a future blog.
As the snow falls and the wind blows across the island of Nantucket, I am feeling gratitude for having successfully completed our first year in business. I believe that we have been able to bring some happiness and joy into our customer’s lives in the form of jewelry inspired by the beauty around us. We wish you all beautiful new beginnings, full of possibilities and promise for 2017!
